Information Security
Foundations of Protection
This course provides a practical introduction to information security for all staff. It covers the most common threats, from phishing and malware to weak passwords, unsecured Wi-Fi and social engineering, and explains the straightforward steps you can take to reduce risk. Real case studies, including the 2017 WannaCry attack on the NHS, bring the material to life, and a summary checklist at the end gives you something to refer back to. The course finishes with a 10-question quiz (80% pass mark, unlimited retries).
Who should take this course?
Information security is a shared responsibility, so the course is aimed at all staff regardless of seniority or technical background. It is particularly useful if you handle email or customer data, use devices outside the office, or connect to wireless networks while working.
Which learning format suits you best?
Our e‑learning courses are designed to be flexible, so you can choose the delivery option that best fits your organisation. Courses can be accessed via our hosted LMS (Learning Management System), which is ideal if you want a low‑maintenance option with no internal system to manage. We take care of hosting and access, giving you a simple way to roll out training and track completion. Alternatively, courses are available on a perpetual licence as SCORM or HTML5 packages for organisations with an existing LMS. This allows you to host and manage the training internally while retaining full control over assignment and reporting. Annual update options are available to keep content aligned with changes in regulation, threats and best practice, ensuring training remains current year on year.

Who needs access to the training?
This helps us point you at the right licence type.
Just me
An individual annual subscription with access to every course on our LMS. An LMS (Learning Management System) is the online platform used to deliver and track training. With this option you learn on Evolve North's own LMS, so there's nothing to install.
My team or organisation
Per-user licences for your workforce, on your LMS or fully hosted by us.
Does your organisation have its own LMS? An LMS (Learning Management System) is the platform your organisation uses to deliver and track training, for example Moodle, Cornerstone or TalentLMS.
This determines how we deliver the courses to your learners.
Yes, we have an LMS
We'll supply SCORM packages you import into your platform. SCORM is an industry-standard file format that lets our courses run and report completions inside almost any LMS. We support SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, AICC and cmi5.
No, host it for us
Your learners use our managed LMS: enrolment, reminders and reporting included.
Not sure
No problem. We'll show our fully hosted option, the simplest way to start. If you don't have a training platform, or aren't sure, our hosted option is the easiest way to get going, and you can switch to SCORM packages later.

What's the pass mark for the quiz?
80%. The quiz pulls 10 questions from a larger bank, and you can retake it as many times as you need to. If you're importing the course into your own LMS, you may be able to set your own pass marks.
Does this course cover home and remote working, or only the office?
Both. The sections on Wi-Fi, physical surroundings, passwords and information sharing all cover home and remote working as well as office use.
Do I need a technical or IT background?
No. It's written for a general audience. Where technical terms come up (malware, phishing, MFA, ransomware), they are explained in plain language.
